The White Rose was a student group in Munich who protested against the war as the Germans were losing in Stalingrad in 1942. In the stifling totalitarian atmosphere, it was a dangerous undertaking, but these young people of principle published a series of seven leaflets criticizing the Nazi government and the passive citizens who allowed the crimes to continue. The White Rose symbolizes resistance to tyranny.
